First blog post: Happy Spring!

Good morning and happy Monday! I hope Spring 2019 is off to a good start for you!

Spring is always an interesting season for me. Quite honestly, I feel it can be a bit overlooked. As we keep our eyes focused on Summer and all the joys that come with it, Spring sometimes gets tagged as the season that is just in the way. Today I want to  challenge you to live in the moment of now by sharing a couple of habits that can fit into your life!

1.       Your body is a treasure, so treat it like one!

In the final push towards Summer, it is easy to get caught up in work and stress. While I commend you for your perseverance and persistence, don’t forget about the importance of rest! Even if it is something simple like taking 15 minutes out of your day to sit and relax with your thoughts or a good book. You will be amazed at what it will do for you! Put your phone on silent and out of sight and experiment with relaxation! Give your body and mind what it deserves and treat yourself! Finding some way to unwind a little bit each day has awesome long term effects on your health such as improved productivity and lower levels of stress and depression 😊

2.       Love yourself more!

Enjoy who you are right now, in this moment! There are so many standards we feel we must check off in order for us to be “normal” these days! It is important to understand that there really is no such thing as normal! No person is identical to another. Every human being is unique in their own, very special way! Love what makes you different and what makes you, YOU! If this is something you struggle with, here is a little exercise you can fit into your daily routine.

 Make a list of what you like about yourself and who you are. Yes this can be kind of awkward and weird, but nobody is going to judge you here! Now take that list and stick it to a mirror that you look into every day. When you look into that mirror, read to yourself OUTLOUD what you have written down and believe every word you say! Self-love is so important to your mental health and it is something that shouldn’t be over looked 😊

3.       Spread the love!

This one takes a little bit of bravery, but I believe it has the best and most rewarding payoff. Don’t be afraid to give encouragement to someone! This can take on so many forms, whether its complimenting a complete stranger or sending a heartfelt message to someone you care about, little things like this will brighten another’s day and your own! Being generous and expressing gratitude has been shown reap a host of benefits to your health! This includes experiencing higher levels of positive emotions, optimism, and strengthening the immune system and lowering blood pressure 😊 You have no idea what could be going on in the lives of others and what you do could be just what they need in that moment! So, be brave! If you thought of someone while reading this, reach out to them! Tell them your appreciation for who they are or what they mean to you in your life!

I hope that you can try to make these three things a habit this spring! Live in the now through self-care, self-love and spreading encouragement to others in the world around you! Have a fantastic week everyone!
